Kambarang Season
FLOWERING SEASON
SEASON OF BIRTH
OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
COLOUR - YELLOW
During the transition from Djilba to Kambarang Season, the weather rises in temperature with increasingly warm to hot dry days and less cold fronts coming from the coast. Wildflowers Djet Malkakoom, flower this time of year and an abundance of colour is displayed across country Boodja and where the bees and small birds busy themselves with nectar collection. The long tall flowering stalks of the great Balga grass tree (Xanthorrhoea preissii) are prevalent this time of year pointing to the sky
With the weather warming, reptiles such as Karda (Goanna), Noorn (dugite), Wakarl (Carpet Snake), Nornt (Tiger Snake) and Yoorn (Bobtail) emerge from their Seasonal hibernation looking for food and a warm place to reproduce.
The Koolbardi (Magpie) are noticeably protective of their newly born offspring and bush animals that rely on the receding fresh water sources could be found by traditional hunters who sustainably collected water fowl eggs, frogs, tortoises and marron. Traditionally, people would also move closer towards coastal areas, catching fish, crabs and shellfish to supplement their diet, where the whale migration along the Western Australian coastline is occurring.

News from Kambarang 7
In Kambarang 7, every student has made impressive progress in their own unique way! Our students engage in activities that enhance their writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills as well as maths and social skills. From fun whole group play sessions, small group learning to one-on-one sessions, every experience supports their individual needs, interests, and growth.
HASS
During semester one we had a blast exploring the past and present by looking at old and new toys and different types of communication. The students had so much fun making a cup and ball toy and making and using a string phone. It was great to hear their giggles and chats, while using their phones! This semester, we are looking forward to learning about the geography of Australia and going on an imaginary trip around Australia.
Chance 2 Dance fun, with the Western Australian Ballet!
In term two, our students had an incredible experience participating in the Chance 2 Dance program, facilitated by the Western Australian Ballet. Professional ballet dancers guided us through fun and exciting dance moves, teaching us the beautiful art of ballet. This program was a fantastic way to connect with friends from other classes, build confidence, and stay active. It was amazing to see everyone having so much fun while learning and improving their dance skills. We are grateful for this wonderful opportunity and can't wait to go to the special ballet performance in Term 4!
Start your day right!
We have a lot of fun participating in the whole school morning fitness program, organised by Mrs Rowe. These fun sessions are a fantastic way to start the day, stay fit and learn how to communicate with others and work as a team.
Exploring our new all abilities playground has also been very popular with everyone. We are learning to wait our turn and challenge ourselves. Climbing the rope ladders and jumping on the tramolines has been so much fun. This inclusive playground is more than just a fun place; it’s a space where everyone can grow, learn, and play together.
Landsdale Farm Excursion
We are excited to share the wonderful experience our T2, Birak 4, and Buruna 4 students had during their visit to Landsdale Farm on Tuesday, July 23rd.
The day was filled with fun and learning as the children explored the farm.
Students met and interacted with friendly farm animals like goats, chickens, and cows. They enjoyed petting the animals. They also had an indoor adventure area set up for them which involved role play activities and a sensory obstacle course.
The visit to Landsdale Farm was a great success, providing our students with valuable hands-on learning experiences and wonderful memories. We are proud of their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour.
