Principal's Message
Dear WESC Community,
As we bid farewell to 2023, it's with a heart full of gratitude and joy that we reflect on the incredible journey we've had together at Westminster ESC. This year has been marked by achievements, growth, and unforgettable moments that have shaped the WESC family.
Farewells and New Beginnings:
With all the excitement and accomplishments, we also face the reality of change. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of some beloved members of our WESC family:
Kelsey Collins: After contributing immensely to our community, Kelsey will be returning to SSEND. We wish her the best in all her future endeavours.
Susan Jones: Retiring after 20 years of service with the Department of Education, her experience and dedication to our students and staff will be missed. Wishing you all the very best for the future.
Lys McLernon: Embarking on a new adventure, Lys will be joining Dianella Secondary ESC for the next 12 months. We extend our heartfelt best wishes to Lys for a successful and fulfilling experience.
Kathy Vrankovic: Celebrating Kathy's success, we are delighted to share that she has secured a permanent position at West Coast ESC (secondary). Congratulations, Kathy, on this well-deserved achievement!
Josiah Godfrey: We are proud to announce that Josiah has secured a permanent position at Balcatta Secondary. We commend Josiah for his dedication and wish him continued success in his new role.
Lauren Redman: Moving into a senior Speech Pathologist position at PCH, Lauren is set to take on new challenges and make a positive impact in her new role. We applaud her accomplishments and wish her the very best.
Celebrations Galore:
As we wrap up the year, let's take a moment to celebrate the various milestones and festivities that made Term 4 special for WESC:
Graduation Ceremony: We witnessed the inspiring commencement of a new chapter for our graduates. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and determination. Amelia, Aidan, Kai, Charlie and James embrace every opportunity that comes your way! We will miss you all.
Book Award Ceremony: Recognising excellence and dedication, our award ceremony honoured outstanding members of our community who have gone above and beyond.
Foam Frenzy Party: The Foam Frenzy party brought joy and laughter, creating lasting memories for our students and staff alike.
School Picnic with Santa: Our school picnic, complete with a special visit from Santa, brought warmth and festive cheer to our community. It was a delightful way to close out the year.
Stepping Up Day: A day dedicated to embracing change and preparing for the future, Stepping Up Day was filled with hope and excitement for the journey ahead.
2024 Classroom Allocations: Over the coming days, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher introducing themselves and providing you with a social narrative that you can be read over the holidays to support their transition. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to come and see me.
Reports: Semester two Achievement Reports will be emailed to parents/carers on Wednesday, if you would like a printed copy sent home. Please contact the office by email to request this.
I want to express heartfelt gratitude for my employees exceptional hard work and dedication. Their tireless efforts have created a thriving and supportive environment for our students, contributing to the success and positive atmosphere at WESC. The teams commitment, resilience, and passion have not only impacted academic achievements but have also shaped the very essence of our school community.
As we look forward to the possibilities that the new year holds, let's carry the spirit of unity, resilience, and enthusiasm that defines the WESC family. Thank you for being an integral part of our community, and we can't wait to create more memories together in the coming year.
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Carmen Lopez

News from Room 24
The Year 6 Fun Week was held in Week 7. It was a chance for students to celebrate their time at primary school before venturing off to high school. Mrs Bos and I were to take the five Year 6 Students but due to the extreme heat wave only four attended. We ended up inviting the two remaining students, from our class, to come with us to make up numbers.
On Wednesday November 22 the students went to Scitech in West Perth. We had morning tea when we arrived and then headed into the Planetarium for a fantastic show, called We are Aliens. At 12 noon we went to the Science Theatre Show and saw a presentation called Knowledge by Nature. We had plenty of free time in the general exhibition areas where we saw lots of cool things and Mrs Bos raced Michael in a timed running race.
On Thursday November 23 we travelled to Joondalup to go to Time Zone. First, the students had a game of ten pin bowling while eating some yummy hot chips. Next, they went to Laser Tag. After being shown a short video on how to play, they got kitted up and ready for action. Kai was the eventual winner as he scored the most laser hits on his classmates. The students had lots of fun in the games arcade and played car and motor bike racing games, as well as basketball and dancing games.
The final day was Outback Splash and we had Mrs Lopez and Mr Godfrey come along to join in the fun. The students and adults paired up and climbed up the tower for fun on the inflatable water slides. After that we went to the new Lagoon swimming pool, where everyone splashed and tried to dunk each other! Next we went back to Octopus Bay water playground for more fun sliding and then had lunch. We had one more session at inflatable water sliding to finish.
Everyone had an awesome day, but we were very tired and glad to get on the bus and head back to school!
