WE INSPIRE ALL STUDENTS IN A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT AND ENCOURAGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUCCESS
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Wow, what a term it has been. I can hardly believe that term 3 is coming to an end.
Students have been busy in their classrooms, engaged in their work and meeting their individual education goals and targets. This term, Parent and Carers received their child’s Individual Education Plan. The teaching and learning in classrooms, is based around students’ individual plans and I am looking forward to reviewing student success and achievement.
Westminster ESC Positive Behaviour Support values and skills are explicitly taught and acknowledged across the school daily. Thank you to Laks, Christine, Raph and Emma A, who created videos including key word sign and explicit teaching of PBS skills, these are an incredible resource for our students. Checkout these videos on our Facebook page!
- Respectful
- Engaged learner
- Safe
The teaching and learning extended outside of the classroom this term, with lots of incursions and excursions opportunities provided to our students. Reflecting on Term 3, it was eventful and highly rewarding: Science week, Book week, Sports Carnivals, photo day, thank you to our wonderful staff for organisation and contribution to the past events.
Last week, a number of our students participated in the Education Support North Network interschool sports carnival. This was an opportunity for selected students to leave school and participate in a day full of fun, comradery, and good sportsmanship. Thank you to Creaney ESC and Beldon ESC for hosting these events and providing the invaluable opportunity for Education Support schools to come together and celebrate student diversity, whilst having fun.
As we move into Spring, and the sun is shining, remember to be sun smart and bring your hat to school.
Today is R U OK day, this is an important opportunity to remind everyone that every day is a day to ask 'Are you OK?'
I wish everyone a safe and happy school holidays.
Kind Regards,
CARMEN LOPEZ

News from Room 25
Term 3 is almost finished for this year and quicker than imagined. Our students in Room F25 started the new term with great excitement enjoying all our classroom sessions and outdoor activities, including morning fitness. Students have been very busy this term with the Sports Carnival activities practising their races, throws and run, as well as with Science Week, REmida, where they used recycled materials to create their own designs.
Our students have had a great start in English creating sentences using the Colourful Semantics program; and with Maths, learning about money and division. In our classroom, we enjoy AUSLAN songs and activities by signing greetings, colours, feelings, and family members. In Cooking, we explored different flavours and textures creating faces on biscuits with fruits to help our students learn healthy food habits, as well as making our delicious Honey Crackles that we all shared and loved.
During HASS we have been looking at the continent of South America and its geography, discovering and identifying the different animals that inhabit the Amazon rainforest with the help of slides, posters and video clips.
Room F25 had a lot of fun playing different musical instruments during Music, with tambourines, triangles, claves, and drums. We always end the session with Just Dance Videos on the IWB, where students move freely at their own pace, rhythm and beat to contemporary music, which they enjoy very much.
For Social Skills, we are following through our Positive Behaviour Support lessons, to help them learn our expected behaviours, by receiving class rewards with visits to our Principal, Ms Lopez, for interesting and positive conversations with her, as well as Merit Awards at Assembly when positive behaviours are achieved to help them feel motivated and inspired in our supportive WESC environment.
We are very enthusiastic and looking forward to another busy Term 4 with lots of opportunities for success, rewards, fun, and fantastic new achievements in the learning of new topics to the start of next term.
