Our Vision
WE INSPIRE ALL STUDENTS IN A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT AND ENCOURAGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUCCESS
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are delighted to bring you the end-of-term newsletter for Term 2, highlighting the wonderful
achievements, events, and important information from our school community. It has been a busy
and productive term filled with exciting activities, academic/behavioural progress, and memorable
moments. We extend our gratitude to everyone for their contributions and support throughout
these past few months.
Disco and Pyjama Day
Last Friday we had our Community Disco event and Pyjama Day. It was awesome seeing so many parents and caregivers attend and join in on the disco fun. I would like to extend my gratitude to the P&C who provided us with yummy popcorn, tea and coffee. We are looking forward to hosting more community events next term… so watch this space!
Swimming
It has been awesome seeing our middle and upper year students participate in our swimming
lessons. Whilst the weather has been chilly, it has not dampened the students’ willingness to
participate wholeheartedly in their lessons. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the staff
who also get in the pool to support the children throughout their lessons! Seeing the joy on the
students faces makes it all worthwhile!
Parent Workshops
This term Lauren our speech therapist concluded our parent workshops that focused on supporting your child’s communication. Based on the positive feedback received, we will be running the same sessions again next term, but in the afternoon. The sessions will be held in weeks 3 (02/08), 6 (23/08) & 9 (13/09) from 1.30-2.30pm.
Ongoing Support, Communication and Reports
We understand the importance of ongoing communication and support between parents, teachers,
and students. Our teachers are readily available to address any concerns or questions, and we
encourage open dialogue regarding your child's progress and individual needs. We appreciate your
active involvement and partnership in ensuring the success of our education support initiatives. Towards the end of next week, we will email you a copy of your child’s report. This can be opened and downloaded as an electronic copy. If you would like a printed copy, please reach out to Brooke in administration and she will arrange it for you.
Reminders
If your child is off sick, the school needs to be notified each day that they are away. Notifications can be submitted through Schoolzine (via our Website), by emailing the teacher or by calling the school. In term 3 the teachers will develop your child’s IEP goals which will be the focus for the remainder of the year. Once the IEP’s are ready, teachers will provide all families with an opportunity to meet. These meetings support collaboration and therefore, I encourage you to take up this opportunity to have a sit-down meeting with the teacher when the time comes.
In the meantime, please have a fabulous two weeks off school and we look forward to welcoming all students back Tuesday 18th of July 2023.
Kind Regards,
CARMEN LOPEZ

News from Room 6
The students in Room 6 have had a great term so far and have made lots of progress throughout the semester! We have been learning all about our emotions, communication, feelings and being safe at school.
The class has enjoyed being active everyday during our gross motor activities and during bike riding lessons with Mrs Deans we have been learning all about road and bike safety. Claire has been a superstar bike rider and is now riding without training wheels!
In Science this semester we have been exploring Earth and Space Sciences. Our focus has been on learning about different types of weather elements, looking at the conditions they present and observing how our dressing changes according to the weather. We have investigated the difference between warm water and ice, looked at the importance of staying safe from the hot sun and observed what happens to a painting if left out in the rain.
During STEM and technologies we have been learning about coding using Bee bots! Students started the semester practising how to move 'Forward' and 'Backward' as well as learning about 'Start' and 'Stop' through songs like 'Hokey Pokey' and 'We are going on a Bear hunt'.
In HASS we have learnt all about ourselves and others in our community and we have enjoyed lots of fun community events such as National Simultaneous Story Time, Easter, EID, Harmony Day, our friends Birthdays, Anzac Day and Outdoor Classroom Day.
Students in Room 6 have explored musical instruments such as Xylophones and maracas and musical concepts such as tempo 'fast', 'slow' and 'stop'. They have also used the interactive whiteboard to learn body movements used in nursery rhymes to practice body movements such as up and down, rowing and jumping. During Art lessons we have been learning to identify colours, focusing on primary colours Red, Blue and Yellow.
During literacy and mathematics lessons the students in Room 6 have been learning through play and enjoying activities such as playdough letters, interactive smartboard activities, OSMO, cooking, number painting and sensory exploration.
Constable Care Incursion
Our students were entertained by the Constable Care Foundation incursion that delivered puppet shows and live interactive performances educating on road safety and cyber safety.
Pyjama Day and Community Disco
The school held a Pyjama Day fundraising event for Year 6 Fun Week!
Thank you to the P&C and ESC staff for organising a wonderful Community Disco event. The students had a ball and it was great to see many parents and staff participating and enjoying the disco.
