Term 2 - Week 6
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
The children have blown us away with their ability to continue to work. We’re amazed at their resilience and positivity. Last week teachers were engaging with students in a variety of diagnostic assessments. Teachers will be well equipped to plan for each child’s future learning. Addressing any gaps and identifying opportunities to further extend and enrich.
Semester 2 reports will still be sent home in week 10, they will now be sent home electronically and if anyone would like a hard copy please request from the office.
We are so appreciative of our families understanding and support whilst coping with Covid cases in the community.
The building work continues and I would like to thank families for their patience whilst trying to navigate drop off and pickups during this time. Unless you have a ACROD badge can I ask families not park in the main staff car park as it is not a designated pick up and drop off point.
Thank you to the P&C who continue to operate the canteen on a voluntary basis and fund raise for both Westminster Schools. I would like to acknowledge Norm Gibbons on receiving The Nan Marlow Award for excellence in volunteering.
Unfortunately this weeks' assembly has been cancelled, they will resume as normal in week 8.
Kind Regards,
GARY HOBSON

News from T1
What an exciting year 2022 has turned out to be thus far. Our PP/Year 1 students have made an exceptional start to their learning journey at Westminster ESC.
We are enjoying our hands on comprehensive literacy program and look forward to our morning circle where we get to interact with our friends and join in on simple nursery rhymes.
Ibrahim, Cholhok and Trace have been working on writing letters, sounds and building CVC words. Ken, Keith, Justin and Eugene are working on pre-writing patterns and letter formations.
In maths, we have been learning a lot about counting, 2D and 3D shapes and sorting. The children are engaged and excited in what they are doing as they explore the different activities. They have really enjoyed using the sorting stones to sort colours and shapes.
We are doing an amazing job during fitness as the students are learning to complete an obstacle. This is helping the students to strengthen their gross motor skills and learn about turn taking.
One of our class focus’ this term has been to improve on communicating and using visuals and PODD book. We have been implementing this in all aspects of our day such as during morning circle time, crunch and sip and cooking.
One of our programs that we have been running this term is cooking. The children look forward to cooking and being able to cook something simple and eat it. One of their favourite foods to cook is Toast.
We also have had lots of fun building on our fine motor skills through play dough, threading and using tongs.
We can’t wait to continue to watch the students learn, explore and flourish at Westminster ESC.
Pirate Day
On Friday 13th May, we participated in Pirate Day to raise money for kids' brain cancer research, which raised over $190.00 There was plenty of piratey fun for students and even the staff jumped on board this great cause.
T-Ball
W.A.D.S.A Incursion
Our students enjoyed a series of fun sessions provided by the WA Disabled Sports Association.
