Term 4
From the Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
This term always seems to be the term with the most activity taking place in classes, including swimming for years 4.5 and 6 over the next 2 weeks as well as a number of sporting programs.
As we get ready for next year there are a number of ways that you can help us: If your child will not be attending this school in 2022, please let either the class teacher know or call in to the Front Office.
If you know any families that have a child who would like to enrol with us for next year please encourage them to come for a tour of the school and to collect an application pack. Kindy for 2022 applies to children who were born between July 2017 and June 2018.
Public School Review
As many of you were aware at the end of last term we took part in The Public School Review (PSR) which is a process whereby schools are required to provide information about the performance of the school, to ensure that as a school we are meeting the needs of our students and the community we serve.
The reviewers confirmed the school remains true to our school vision of ‘Inspiring all students in a supportive environment and encouraging opportunities for success’. Once the report has been viewed by the school board it will be made available on our website.
Positive behaviour support (PBS) at Westminster ESC
At Westminster ESC this year we have been working towards building a school environment that promotes positive behaviours. This does not mean that prior to that we were promoting negative behaviours! What we are aiming to do is recognise and support positive behaviours that nearly all children have, or are aware of,teach those behaviours necessary to success, and to identify students requiring support to use more positive and successful
behaviour’s.
PBS is about recognising the many students who do the right thing most of the time, and supporting those students needing help to behave well. During 2022 you will start to hear more from the staff and your child about PBS and I would encourage all parents and carers to talk to your children what PBS is about.
Building works
As you can see the building works have well and truly commenced. Things are a little chaotic with parking and I would like to thank our community with your patience. All the disruption will be worth it once the building works and new car parks are complete. If you have any questions or even any suggestions in relation to the new build and parking, please feel free to drop by for a chat.
Attendance
In term 2 we were one of a few schools commended for our excellent attendance rates. Regular attendance ensures that children do not miss important parts of classroom teaching and learning. Of course, should your child be unwell please keep them at home as this is the best place for them. An important part of attendance is arriving at school on time, if you are late letting the front office know that they are here before going to your childs class. Being late also places children in the position of missing out on instruction. Lateness is recorded by the school along with attendance and forms part of the data we collect as a school to report on our effectiveness.
Kind Regards,
Gary Hobson

News from K/PP
It’s hard to believe its Term 4 already. We have enjoyed the sneak peek of sunshine and are looking forward to more. We have been so busy learning and exploring during our learning stations and some of us have even achieved our Principal awards and prizes.
Farmer Mick joined us at the end of last term and brought along his animal friends. It was wonderful to see so many of the children enjoying the furry interactions.
We have also continued improving and strengthening our gross motor skills, by participating in the Gymnastics Incursions. We look forward to the Friday sign alongs with our friends in Room 4.
We will be keeping up the awesome work, all the way to the end of the term.
Urban Indigenous Art Workshop
Our students participated in the Urban Indigenous Art Workshop funded by the Pals grant to create a beautiful collective canvas. All the students had a fabulous time! The finished artwork has now become the backdrop for our Acknowledgement to Country. Thank you to Grace Comeagain, Raylene Batchlet, and the students from the ESC and Koorlangkwa group for the fabulous design.
