Dear Parents/Carers,
Science Week
Last Wednesday we celebrated Science Week with a picnic of food sensations in the junior playground. Each class were responsible for a platter of food that they had designed and prepared. It was a wonderful morning with some fantastic food sensations.
Swimming
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel swimming for Year1-3’s next term due to the timing. We were re-scheduled to go in Weeks 9-10 due to the late start at the beginning of this year. At this stage the Year4-6 swimming will be going ahead in Weeks 3-4.
Parent Morning Tea
This morning we had our re-scheduled community morning tea with the theme of ‘Getting to know our Community’. Thank you to all the families who attended it was great to see you all.
Book Week
Book Week is upon us again. The theme is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’. Students are encouraged to dress up tomorrow however the book parade will be a little different with the staff presenting something new; can’t wait to see it!
Crazy Hair Day
This Friday is ‘Crazy Hair Day’. Please bring a gold coin donation to fundraise for our Year 6 camp. I would love to see some out there, wacky do hairstyles, see if you can out do the teachers! There might even be a prize for the craziest do.
ESC Sports Day at Beldon
Our annual ESC sports day will be held on Tuesday 7th September at Beldon Primary. Please return lunch orders ASAP if you would like your child to have one. Families are more than welcome to come and support your child on the day
Kind Regards,
Kirsten Dunn

News from Room 19
Room 19 has had an excellent start to the term. As a new class with a new teaching team, we have all settled in well.
Already this term we have celebrated NAIDOC week, Science week and the Sports Carnival. This week is Book Week and we look forward to dressing up for the parade tomorrow, as well as doing some special activities that relate to this year’s theme of “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”.
For Science Week, Room 19 made a space themed cheese platter which we then shared with our friends at a whole school picnic.
During class, a favourite activity is cooking. So far this term we have made Nutella Croissants, Corn Fritters, Fruit Crumble and Bread Dough. Everyone enjoys making the recipes, and most have tasted their cooking.
We are also learning about belonging, and how important it is to feel that you belong in different groups, including friends, family, at school and in our classroom. We read a story about a family of otters and how they all have different roles within their community to ensure everyone has food, shelter and feels happy and safe. After reading this book, we made our own Otters and named them and gave them a role in the family too.
The class are working hard and having lots of fun! Keep up the amazing work Room 19.
Westminster Sports Carnival
What a brilliant day we all had. It was great to see all the students in their faction colours, working as a team and great sportsmanship. Well done to all the ribbon winners.

Science Week
National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science and technology. The school theme for National Science Week 2021 is Food : Different by Design. It honours the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.
Westminster ESC celebrated by classes designing and creating a wide range of food dishes. These included mini pizzas, sandwiches, fruit platters, salads, cheese boards, decorated biscuits and smoothies. We then came together for a picnic where we could share food, socialise and have some fun as a whole centre.
