Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
As Covid restrictions have been relaxed I started to think about how we can maintain our own and our children’s wellbeing. Research shows that being part of something bigger than ourselves and focusing on things we value is key to our wellbeing. Practising gratitude every day for the things we do have helps with positive emotions and to deal with life’s ups and downs. I came across a resource I thought I would share with you from the Action for Happiness website, Meaningful May. The site has a calendar of simple actions we can take each day in May to help reflect on what matters to us. I have set myself the challenge to participate in Meaningful May, I hope some of you take the opportunity to do it too!
If you haven’t seen our Facebook page and the lovely Mothers Day video, make sure you check it out. I would like to thank Mrs Laks our ICT guru in creating this and all of the work she does on social media and our school website.
Kind Regards,
Gary Hobson

News froom Room 6
What a great start we have had to the year in Room 6! It has been wonderful getting to know a completely different cohort of students, as well as building a positive team of staff who work very well together. Each of the students have come out of their shells and it’s great to see their spunky/cheeky personalities!
Our big focus as a class this semester, is learning to transition smoothly between activities and using visual timetables to develop independence while doing so; And boy oh boy, they are all doing amazing! It’s rewarding to see with the consistency and perseverance the team had, it is starting to pay off… great work Room 6!
Another big focus in Room 6 is working on our communication skills. To assist us with this, we have been using the PODD book during all work sessions. The students have been engaged with the PODD book by pointing and independently identifying the pictures. Students are also initiating connection and communication which is truly delightful to see, keep up the great work boys!
We love to have A LOT of messy play in our room and the students love it. Shaving cream and water play are the biggest hits and it really gets the students engaged in the activities.
You might see us walking around the school in the afternoons; the point of this activity is for the students to learn to walk safely in a group as that is a very important skill to have when we go on excursions and other fun out of school activities. The students thoroughly enjoy their walk and it is a lovely way to end a very hard working day.
Let’s keep up the good work Room 6 and continuing the amazing progress we have made so far this year!
Sci-tech Incursion
The students enjoyed a school visit from the Scitech Spacedome. The Spacedome is a portable planetarium, the size and shape of an igloo, that allows students to experience space exploration, the night sky and the solar system.
After the Space Dome, the students participated in a workshop where they had to make, build and test a way to land a fragile robot rover on the surface of another planet while the younger students build a space shelter.
It was wonderful to see the student’s enthusiasm and hear the awe and wonder in their voices during all the activities.
