Issue 15 19th October
Principals Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Wow can you believe it? It is the last term of the year and week two is almost over.
This term is packed with wonderful and exciting events for all of our students including; the Yirri Yakkin performance, the book parade, the outdoor classroom day, ten pin bowling, swimming, the awards assembly and the amalgamation celebration ceremony and not forgetting the year 6 graduation.
Uniforms
As previously highlighted the Westminster Junior Primary School and Westminster Primary School will be amalgamating and due to this our families with students in the current Kindy – Year 5 will be eligible for a free new uniform package for 2021 to celebrate the start of a new era for the Westminster Schools. Uniform fittings for the Education Support Centre are taking place on the 26th October in the Undercover area. A uniform package selection form will be provided for families who choose not to attend for fittings. This will also be made available on our Facebook page.
Canteen
Just a reminder that the canteen is closed this week and next week, it will be opening as normal from week 3.
If any of our families know of parents considering enrolling at our centre, please encourage them to do so as early as possible this term so we can finalize our classes for 2021.
Have a brilliant term!
Kind Regards,
Gary Hobson

Book Week 2021
On Friday 23rd October we will be celebrating Book Week with a fancy dress parade. Book week is a fantastic opportunity for your child to celebrate their favourite characters from their favourite books by coming to school dressed up.
The theme of this year’s Book Week is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’ which makes us think about books with jungles, sea creatures and dinosaurs, imaginary and mythological animals, and of adventurers, explorers and scientists.
Wear Red for Daniel
On Friday 30th October, students in Year 4-6 are encouraged to wear red to school in support for 'Day for Daniel' to raise awareness. They will participate in a 'Walk for Daniel'.
News from ESC 6
Where has this year gone? Considering it has been an unusual year, it has been a great one in Room 6. Our students have done remarkably well with their academic work this year, as well as with their personal growth. It is the last term of primary school for our Year 6’s and I am sure they will be dearly missed by staff who have seen them grow throughout the years at Westminster ESC. With this in mind, our school camp/activity week is coming up very soon in week 7 and the students are all looking forward to it. We will be staying at the Keith Maine Centre in Whiteman Park over 2 nights and during the days we will be going to Outback Splash, the movies, Laser Tag and Time Zone. It will be great fun!
In STEM this semester, we have been focussing on the digital technologies side. With Room 7, we have been playing around with the Spheros and learning how to code them using a Sphero app. The students have all been engaged during these lessons, especially when we have a little bit of friendly competition and race the Spheros at the end of the lesson.
In Science with Mrs Rose and Room 7, students have been learning about Physical Sciences. During this time, students have been looking at the properties of different materials and sorting them into categories.
Last term we had lots of fun participating in the hockey and gymnastics incursions. We love having visitors at the school and participating in their programs. During hockey, students worked on their hand-eye coordination and learnt how to pass the puck to their partners. In gymnastics, the students learnt how to do handstands and simple tumbles… they all did a great job.
In the coming weeks, we are going to Super Bowl in Warwick to learn how to play ten pin bowling. This is a grant given to us from WADSA which was kindly arranged by Mrs Deans (Thank you!). The students always thoroughly enjoy bowling so it something they are looking forward to participate in.
The staff and students have made it a pleasurable year in Room 6. We have had lots of fun, laughs and positive vibes! The staff are very proud of how much the students have progressed in all areas of development. Room 6 wishes everyone a happy last term of 2020…. We are nearly at the end!
